Save Energy

One of the benefits of having an above ground hot tub is that it’s always hot and ready to use. A tight-fitting cover, high density foam hot tub cover will prevent heat loss, keeping that hot tub ready for you at all times. The hot tub cover reduces energy needed to heat the hot tub. This can add up to significant savings on your electric bill. Hot tub covers are available in one-pound, one-and-a-half-pound, and two-pound densities. The higher the density, the stronger and better at insulating heat your cover will be. Generally the higher density covers are best for areas with heavy snow fall.  In our climate, a one pound or pound-and-a-half are sufficient.

Save Water

If you live in Murrieta and the Temecula area, you are enjoying the gorgeous Southern California climate. But our dry, warm air causes evaporation of your hot tub water as well as heat. You can significantly reduce evaporation by putting a lid on that hot tub.

Reduce the use of Harsh Chemicals.

While saving money on energy and water is wonderful, the reduction in chemicals used in your hot tub is as important. Your hot tub cover keeps the chemicals – chlorine or bromine depending on what spa water care plan you are on -from evaporating which throws your sanitizer levels off, forcing your hot tub to work harder and forces you to do more work with keeping your hot water clean. We know for a fact that our customers that don’t have to fuss over their water care use their hot tubs much more. A good quality, high density foam, well-fitting cover will reduce the use of harsh chemicals, reduce the amount of work you have to do to keep your water clean and save you money on water care products.

Protects Shell and Keeps Hot Tub Clean

The hot tub cover keeps the shell protected from the harsh Murrieta and Temecula Valley sun as well as scratches. A cover will prevent all types of debris, such as sticks, leaves, and bugs from falling into your hot tub. When you lift the cover, your water will should be hot and clean. No need to spend time scooping and skimming the water of your spa for debris.
Safety

A cover will keep small children or animals from unintentionally falling into the water unnoticed. Because fewer drownings occur in spas than pools, they’re sometimes taken less seriously than the hazard they are. Don’t make that mistake.

ASTM International, one of the largest standards-developing organizations in the world, has established performance specifications for hot tub covers. An ASTM International-certified cover will help prevent tragic accidents from happening in your hot tub. Look for this certification when shopping for your cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

My old spa cover faded and cracked?

    • Regular use of 303 Aerospace Protectant will reduce slow fade by 95%
    • The life expectancy of the cover is 4 to 6 years without maintenance. Our customers have reported up to 10 years with a monthly cleaning of the cover and 303 Aerospace Protectant.

How do I measure the spa cover? The old cover never seemed to fit correctly.

  • If you know the Make, Model and Year the spa was made, we can use the specifications provided by the manufacturer to make your spa cover.
    • Measure the Length and Width along with the Skirt Length. Also note if there are Cut Corners or Radius (rounded) CornersDon’t forget to mention things like pop-up speakers & stereos.

When can I expect to get my spa cover?

  • Local Delivery is approximately TWO WEEKS after your order has been placed.

What is the skirt and what is its purpose?

  • Typically, above ground spas have an outer edge of fiberglass that is exposed to the sun. The cover incorporates a flap to cover the exposed area. Usually 3″ to 4″ in length. Other than covering the fiberglass, its purpose is for aesthetics. It does NOT help to retain heat or create a “seal”.

If a 4-inch thick cover is good, is a 5-inch or 6-inch thick cover better?

  • Not necessarily. It’s not the thickness of the cover BUT the density of the foam (1.0#, 1.5#, or 2.0#) Also, the thicker the foam, the heavier the cover. We only recommend thicker foam if you are in an area where the hot tub is exposed to heavy snow.

Which Foam do I want, 1.0#, 1.5#, 2.0# Foam?

  • Probably 1.o – it is lightweight, easy to lift and is the standard for most hot tubs including Hot Spring Spas, Jacuzzi Hot Tubs and Cal Spas
  • 1.0# foam/ R-12 insulation value. Lightweight & easy to remove from the spa. Standard on most portable spas / hot tubs when you purchased your spa with the cover.
  • 1.5# foam/ R-17 insulation value is used by Sundance Spas on all models.
  • 2.0# foam/ R-19 insulation value. Used for in-ground spas. An upgrade for above ground spas. The added insulation will save electricity and is less likely to crack if it is stepped on. For spas exposed to heavy snow loads and small/medium dogs that insist on taking sun baths on the cover!
